Contemporary Kent Artists was founded by Maxine Russo and James Gilgunn to independently promote Kent artists and help re-establish wider recognition of their work. James, a St Martin’s School of Art graduate, brings experience as an artist, exhibitor and supporter of fellow artists, while Maxine contributes extensive experience in arts events, exhibitions and local cultural initiatives, including Fishslab Gallery and the Whitstable arts festival. Working with Arts Consultant Vicky Caplin, Shepherd Neame, Whitstable Artists’ Forum, East Kent Open Houses and other partners, they aim to share their enthusiasm for Kent’s artists with a wider audience.
